Toddler & Preschool Gymnastics at Mt. Magnolia Academy
Our early childhood gymnastics program is designed to introduce children to movement, balance, and coordination in a fun and supportive environment. These classes are a perfect first step for building confidence, developing motor skills, and creating a love for physical activity.
Toddler Gymnastics – Parent & Tot
Ages: 18 months–3 years
Our Parent & Tot classes give toddlers their first “team sport” experience while creating a special bonding opportunity with their parent or caregiver. Each class combines playful activities with structured skill-building to help little ones grow socially, physically, and emotionally.
Toddlers will enjoy:
-
Swinging and hanging
-
Balancing on beams and other equipment
-
Bear crawls and climbing
-
Jumping and matching games
-
Being upside down safely
-
Fine motor skill activities
-
Strength-building exercises
These classes encourage social interaction with other children while allowing parents to actively participate in their child’s learning and development.
Preschool Gymnastics – Ages 3–4
For preschoolers, gymnastics becomes a balance of movement education and social skill development. While learning to share, take turns, and listen, students are introduced to basic gymnastics skills:
-
Rolling, swinging, jumping, and balancing
-
Body positions: tuck, straddle, pike, and stretch (layout)
-
Assisted backward rolls, handstands, and cartwheels
Our coaches use positive reinforcement and hands-on spotting to ensure safety while encouraging children to try new movements. Mastery of advanced skills is not expected at this age — the focus is on exploration and confidence building.
Preschool Gymnastics – Ages 4–5
With increased attention spans and improved strength and flexibility, students in this age group are ready for more skill progression. Classes include partner activities, relays, and group games to develop teamwork while introducing more challenging gymnastics skills for:
-
Vault – basic jumps and approaches
-
Bars – swinging, holds, and introductory circles
-
Beam – balance work and beginning dismounts
-
Tumbling – rolls, handstands, cartwheels
-
Trampoline – controlled jumps and safe landings
All skills are taught in a safe, supportive environment, with instructors spotting for proper form and safety at every stage.
