Youth Gymnastics Classes

Youth Gymnastics at Mt. Magnolia Academy

Our Youth Gymnastics Program is designed for athletes ages 4–12 and focuses on progressive skill development across all four Olympic apparatuses — vault, bars, beam, and floor. Classes are taught in a safe, supportive environment by experienced coaches who help students build strength, coordination, and confidence while having fun.

Athletes are placed in levels based on both age and skill, ensuring that every child is appropriately challenged and can advance at their own pace.

Gymnastics Level 1

Ages: 4–10

Level 1 introduces fundamental gymnastics skills while developing balance, strength, and flexibility. Students will learn:

Vault: Stretch jump onto the mat, kick to handstand, and fall to flat back.
Uneven Bars: Pullover, cast, back hip circle, underswing, and sole circle dismount.
Floor: Cartwheel, ¾ handstand, forward roll, backward roll, and split jump (30° separation).
Beam: Lever, stretch jump, jump to front support mount, arabesque (30°), and cartwheel to ¾ handstand dismount.

Gymnastics Level 2

Ages: 5–11

Level 2 builds on foundational skills and introduces more complex techniques and combinations:

Vault: Jump to handstand onto stacked mats (minimum 16” height).
Beam: Lever, stretch jump, jump to front support mount, arabesque (30°), cartwheel to side handstand dismount.
Uneven Bars: Cast, pullover, back hip circle, single-leg basket swing, leg cut, mill circle, squat-on to pike with sole circle or underswing dismount.

Gymnastics Level 3 – Pre-Competition

Ages: 6–12

Level 3 is a pre-competition class designed to prepare gymnasts for competitive gymnastics. Athletes work on advanced skills with higher strength, flexibility, and precision requirements:

Vault: Flat-back handstand onto mat stack.
Uneven Bars: Single-leg squat through, pullover, front hip circle, mill circle or single-leg basket swing, underswing dismount, introduction to back hip circle.
Floor: Handstand forward roll, split jump (90°), handstand–bridge–kick-over, split leap (90°), backward roll to push-up position, round-off back handspring.
Beam: Straight jump, handstand, split leap (90°), side handstand dismount.
